Now that another sitting President may be guilty of perjury I hope all the House and Senate Republicans will be lining up to vote ‘yes’ on impeachment proceedings.

Wait, a lifelong corrupt scumbag NYC real estate developer is a corrupt scumbag?

Impeach this guy and let’s get Leona Helmsley in the Oval Office stat! She’s a woman, you know.

She died 10 years ago? Well maybe she won’t use Twitter as much, then.

Nah, McCain will say how “deeply concerned” he is, Paul Ryan will call the lawsuit “unfortunate”, and McConnell will find a way to blame the Democrats while the rest of the spineless sycophants will fall in line and stick their heads in the sand same as they’ve done for the last year and a half. In November there might be a chance if enough seats are flipped, but considering how nothing’s been done to prevent the Russians from screwing with the elections again I don’t have a lot of faith.

I like state charges, as they avoid the “pardon myself” strategy. Hang ‘em high, the entire family and their cronies should be called out. Most corrupt regime ever, without hyperbole.

Hopefully everyone gets out and votes man. If this ‘blue wave’ continues gerrymandering might not as big of a deal as it could be (gerrymandering actually hurts the controlling party in wave elections), my concern is that Trump and Co. sees the writing on the wall and do something drastic. Wisconsin and North Carolina have already tried their best to hold up state elections to avoid Dems being elected and I really wouldn’t put it past the GOP to try and do the same on a national level citing the potential Russian interference that could invalidate the results. Bit conspiracy theorist here but considering how weird the last three years have been nothing really seems improbable at this point.

They know they won’t get in real trouble, nothing to fear. 45 is getting the pardons ready right now, no doubt. If Murka actually cared about “law and order”, there would be outrage, but this is now absurdistan since November 2016.

I’d guess Merkel. Since January of 2017. Canada is tiny in comparison, if we look at economy and population instead of empty land. Merkel is a lot more influential because of it. It really is too bad that she’s a bit too meek. I think we need strong democratic leaders that unite and are able and willing to stand up against the bully on the block. We don’t need the bully, it’s tiny to let the bully feel that actions have consequences.

I can agree with that. The EU is now in the lead when it comes to the modern progressive world, and Germany effectively heads the EU, even if some on-paper titles differ. The US is starting to fail in numerous HDIs, where other places move forward.

I wish everyone would stop being meek, especially the US press, and foreign leaders. Trudeau, Merkel, Macron et al simply need to tell 45 to go fuck himself. If he can’t easily see that a close friendly relationship between the US and EU is good for both the citizenry and humanity in general, he should be forced to realize it.

It’s going to take a minute for them to figure out how to respond, seems to me. The problem is that dishonest bullies play a game that honest, decent people, do not know how, or are not able, to play. Run up, kick you in the shin, then run away.

I see 45 as the personification of the Ugly American, or maybe the embodiment of every negative boomer stereotype. Not necessarily soulless, rather, he will do anything to stroke his ego.

Sessions and Pence IMO are petty little opportunists with big issues regarding race, authority, morality.

You and I have discussed religion and you know that I subscribe to a big Christian one. I take my religiosity seriously and have done for more than half my life. When I listened to Jeff Sessions talking about the Bible in his work as a politician this week, I thought he sounded feeble, pathetic, opportunistic . How long before sufficient numbers of Americans rise up against this? Will Trump and his followers destroy our republic? And thank you, Hillary Clinton, for hastening the onset of this cataclysm.

Kinja'd!!! fintail > Rusty Vandura - www.tinyurl.com/keepoppo

Kinja'd!!!0

I see the regime has been trying to use selective context-free Biblical quotes to defend its horrible actions a few times over the past week. If I was a religious person, I would be insulted. As someone who isn’t religious (I have no problem with personal faith, I just don’t like it dominating public life), I find it appalling. These people aren’t just harming the republic, they are also harming the credibility of religion - if I was religious, I wouldn’t want those piles of shit representing my faith. Will these sycophants and grifters destroy it? They will do all they can, they are deconstructivists. This smarts of 1933 Germany in more than one way.

I don’t know how to blame Hillary other than with her poorly planned (yet completely accurate) “deplorables” line, which infuriated the rightist snowflakes who are in reality as easily offended and entitled as the stereotypical 19 year old SJW. I’d maybe blame the DNC more for failing to find a more likable candidate. However, the Rs deserve much more blame, the reasonable ones are complicit, and the less palatable ones are either in bed with the Russians, trying to undo anything of the past decade because Obama, or both.

That race was Hillary’s to lose and lose it she did. Hillary was the captain of that shipwreck. I see the deplorables line as a final straw. A good friend of mine, a subscriber to the same religion, and a man who, as a Republican, feels like his vote is worth nothing in the Bay Area, feels strongly that Joe Biden could have walked away with the 2016 election.

I am not sure what she could have done to overcome the fake news, and the email bomb at the end. Kiss economically anxious middle American ass? Load em up with false promises? Deplorables sealed her fate, but I don’t think the ship wasn’t sinking anyway. She has her own ethical issues to push away real progressives, and she’s an aggressive woman - that unnerves a lot of the middle.

Biden would have been interesting, yes. With either of them, at least they aren’t directly employing Russian operatives.

She could have overcome the email bomb at the end by not circumventing the State Department I.T. standards. That entire thing was extra-dumbass.

The email mess existed before the campaign, and doesn’t seem worse than others, as poorly planned as it was. It’s a nothingburger, harped upon by those who think the DNC was operating a child slavery ring in the basement of a beltway pizza parlor. It’s funny how the base can go insane about this, as they look away while 45 directly employs a Russian operative (Manafort). Law and order, what a crock of shit. Every Soviet leader from Stalin onward wanted a destabilized USA and a gap between Europe and the US. With Trump, Putin gets that destabilization and gap.

The bit at the end is a joke about the meeting between 45's repugnant sons and a group of apparatchiks, that the base still lies about and says was about adoption.

There’s a guy, Victor Davis Hansen, whose (New Republic) commentary I enjoy following, and whose writing I’ve posted here a couple of times. I follow him because he is of the California Central Valley and he lives in the midst of stuff that I can relate to. Hansen has gone — only — so far as to acknowledge that Trump’s comportment is sometimes lacking. And the day after the Trump/Kim summit, Hansen is writing about the Iran deal and how bad it was and would have kept on getting worse. Not only are the narratives disparate, they are written from two entirely different reality dimensions.

Sounds right these days - knows something is wrong, won’t dare to speak up and offend the base. Sounds like the media in general. In my opinion, silence is being complicit, and with any luck, history won’t look kindly upon it.

FOX has now crossed the line to being de facto state media, a dangerous precedent.
